Viburnum Tinus is the all-star evergreen hedging plant you see everywhere.
This is a pretty flowering shrub with green leaves and small pink buds in winter. The pink buds are followed by dainty white flowers in Spring, so there’s always something to appreciate on the Viburnum tinus no matter what month we’re in.
It’s great if you need a quick growing evergreen hedge to screen out the neighbours because it establishes quickly. Bye-Bye Doris – you’ll have to knock on the door like everyone else.
Tough, useful and pretty – it’s hard to beat this evergreen. To keep it looking in tip-top shape, water well in dry spells and feed it with good quality fertiliser in Spring.
Quick Facts:
-
What to use me for: I’m an A+ screening plant with my dense evergreen leaves. I’m a low maintenance and I’ll look great wherever you choose to plant me.
-
I grow to: I’ll shoot up to 3 metres unless you cut me back.
-
Where to place me: In full sun please or partial shade at a push. I can withstand frosts and drought once established so I suit lots of locations.
-
How far to space me: As hedging 1 metre apart.
-
Soil Conditions: I like a well-drained fertile soil best, but poorer soils are OK too if you can fertilise me and pop down some mulch. No boggy ground though please, I don’t like soggy feet.
Our plants are called ‘tube stock’ which means rather than being in a pot, they are in a smaller tube. the advantage we offer is that our stock is larger than most tube stock. We hold it for longer to give you a plant that can be planted straight into the ground. We are horticultural experts and have been growing plants for over 40 years.
