Peperomia Obtusifolia Jade is the botanical name for the well-loved Baby Rubber Plant that’s sometimes called Pepper Face.
Jade is a smart and attractive indoor plant that can also be grown outside in the border as an understory plant or on a balcony in warm climates.
She has large round and shiny rubbery leaves that are sturdy and easily wiped down with a wet cloth (there’s a hint for you). Jade is a compact plant that doesn’t take up much room. She looks spot-on in a hanging basket if you fancy some mid-air decor, or pop her on a table, desk or mantelpiece to green up your indoor space. Plants are such good ornaments.
Keep your baby rubber plant in medium filtered light and away from direct sunlight that will burn those fleshy leaves. She’ll need a good quality potting mix to make sure the roots don’t rot and you must hold off watering her until the soil is dry down to 5cms.
Too much love will kill a baby rubber plant – they like the dry side of life.
